My ceramic sculpture “Lotus Emerges” has just been installed at our 40 Acre Mystic Valley Sculpture Park in Mosca, Colorado near the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Last year it was installed for the Annual Outdoor Art Exhibit ‘Artscape’ in nearby Alamosa – the central city of the San Luis Valley.
The Chambered Nautilus, sometimes referred to as a living fossil, has remained relatively unchanged for over 400 million years. Most people recognize it for its shell which captivates with its geometric and jewel-like beauty. Its appeal has been driving this previously abundant species toward extinction through over-harvesting for jewelry production.

Our tiny a-frame opens up to a view the surrounding mountains offering a unique camping experience. Inside are 2 beds made with fresh linens, blankets and a buddy heater. Outside is a firepit with seating and a picnic table. There is a communal shaded area (other guests may be present). Art is installed throughout this creative outdoor space set in a rural, Alpine Desert.

This is the second part of my new lotus installation at the Mystic Valley Sculpture Park near the Great Sand Dunes National Park. These flowers face Blanca Peak to the East. They are opening up toward the light as the sun rises from behind the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
This is my latest art installation at the Mystic Valley Sculpture Park in Mosca, Colorado. It consists of 5 Lotus Flowers which have been a recurring theme in my art over the years. I created all of the ceramic tiles in my studio and complimented them with hand made glass mosaics.
In 2020, we began to work on the sculpture trail at the Mystic Valley Sculpture Park. Artemis was going to be our first installation. For the installation, we chose a prominent spot on one of the dunes. Above is a glimpse into the pedestal construction.
