These were some of the new paintings I created for Autumn Art Festivals. I loved seeing them all together bursting with color and the magic of the Mountain West!
This painting is inspired by a starry night sky above the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado during the fall foliage season.
This painting is inspired by a starry night sky above the Red Mountains in Silverton, Colorado.
This painting is inspired by the first dusting of snow in mid September when the Aspens start turning yellow at the foot of Colorado’s high peaks. One particular inspirational moment that stands out in my memory is camping at Little Molas Lake on Autumn Equinox, the month before giving birth to my first son. The leaves were bursting with yellow, yet there was still some green around and all of a sudden it began to snow. It was one of the most magical autumn moments to date.
This is the latest small batch of wood round paintings I created this Summer. They are of course inspired by our magnificent state of Colorado.
Do you often find yourself daydreaming of Fall Magic? I find that each year, Autumn gifts me with the most beautiful views, unique colors and atmospheres, especially when the sun lights up the golden trees and its fading light creates a never before seen pattern in the sky.
Autumn is the time of year when the senses are often heightened. Clinging onto color and life is a human instinct. A looming storm, can further intensify this feeling as it also has the power to make the landscape seem richer than in does in the bright sunlight that often blow outs the rich colors of the earth.
This painting is inspired by magical Colorado nights above the spectacular Autumnal landscape in the Rocky mountains with the Aspen groves at peak color in late September.
In the last two posts I shared how a very wet and chilly July here in Southern Colorado inspired a mini series of paintings inspired by the upcoming and approaching cooler but in some ways warmer feeling Autumn. This is the last of the three new paintings using a much warmer color palette than I’ve been drawn to recently.
